If I had to build a new team, here’s what I’d ask them to read before starting 🧵👇
Book #1: How to Decide by Annie Duke
Decision-making is art+science
This book is like those Bob Ross videos + an MIT course
Book #2: Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss
Most people think they need negotiation skills only if they frequent the corporate boardrooms
The reality is you negotiate multiple times every day
Learn from the best
Book #3: Building a Second Brain by Tiago Forte
The most creative people’s work is built for flow
Thiago’s work changed my life. I want the same for others (it’s not out yet, but I’ve read dozens of Thiago’s paywalled blog posts the book is based on)
Book #4: Thinking In Systems by Donella Meadows
Businesses are systems, “products are workflows”.
This book is a classic & a kind introduction that blends the systems thinking philosophy with light maths to enrich anyone who reads it
Book #5: Bulletproof Problem Solving by Charles Conn
Consultants may not have much skin in the game, but you hire them for the frameworks & playbooks
This playbook is very robust & complete (MECE) + avoids the McKinsey hype. I use parts of it daily
TL;DR: 5 books I’d ask my team to read so they could become invincible
• How to Decide
• Never Split the Difference
• Building a Second Brain
• Thinking In Systems
• Bulletproof Problem Solving
