The 4th Edition - On remote culture, strategy prompts, history of technology
George Nurijanian
Hello,
Here’s what I’ve been pondering:
1 quote:
“Everything in business is for the first time.” — Peter Thiel
1 video:
Product strategy is always on my mind. It’s a bit of a mauvais ton to google “steve jobs product strategy” when looking for inspiration. Of course I didn’t solve my strategy questions with it, but I chanced upon an old video of Steve relating how difficult product development can be. If Steve felt so, it’s ok for others to feel this way.
2 thoughts:
How do we treat constraints? As though they are the problem you are trying to solve? Or rather as the environment where the real problems are solved within?
Where do we succumb to the “death by a thousand cuts”/gradualism phenomena? Where & how are we contributing to the “tragedy of the commons”?

I found this thread on building their remote culture from the founder of ConvertKit fresh & interesting. Look forward to an internal Xero podcast!
We’re going to try a strategy review with our team at 6-8 week cycles using these prompts. Check them out. Do you have a better approach?
What other books on the history of technology have you read and would recommend? Here’s a great list if you’d like to reinvigorate your senses with some historic non-fiction. Might be some nuggets for the road ahead there.
